The Drawer Test: Judging a Frame Against Its Card in Two Minutes

Every frame at this desk faces the drawer test before finishing money is discussed: the frame is laid beside its catalog card and read against it, entry by entry, in two minutes flat.

Minute one is identity: age read, hair, build, face, signature — five entries, five ticks or the frame is a cull. Minute two is craft and purpose: hands and edges clean, light as briefed, and the frame actually doing the job it was made for — cover, feed piece, or first frame for a clip. A frame that passes identity but fails craft earns one editor pass at 21 credits, not an upscale.

Only a frame that passes both minutes is filed as a keeper, and only keepers are finished — swapped, upscaled, published — in that order.

The test is named for the drawer because that is where the card lives: close enough to check against every single time, with no excuse of distance. Two minutes, five entries, no exceptions.
